La Amalia

A natural retreat for tranquility, relaxation, and renewal.

Our Story

Hacienda La Amalia was born in 1888, when Don José Ignacio de Márquez, in a gesture that defied time, chose to turn love into a living legacy, naming these lands in honor of his beloved wife, Doña Amalia Madriñán.

A colonial paradise built in 1888, nestled among the majestic mountains of Southwest Antioquia, where history, coffee-growing tradition, and nature come together in perfect harmony.

Hacienda La Amalia is a place steeped in history and character, deeply rooted in the region’s coffee-growing heritage and closely connected to the early days of coffee production and export. It was the first hacienda in Colombia to export coffee on a large scale. Today, it is a unique retreat inspired by the timeless elegance and grandeur of the French colonial era.

Located in Venecia, Antioquia, just one hour from Medellín and five minutes from the town’s main square, the hacienda offers a luxurious escape where privacy and tranquility come naturally. Surrounded by mountains and immersed in the sounds of nature, Hacienda La Amalia is a place to slow down, reconnect, and experience the beauty of a truly timeless setting.

Our hotel features 12 exclusive rooms, thoughtfully designed to offer a relaxing and comfortable stay in a setting of timeless colonial charm. Guests can enjoy expansive gardens, peaceful spaces surrounded by nature, as well as an on-site restaurant and café-bar.
